Social Proof is Key 👌

This article is going to be short, sweet, and to the point.

Just two questions, and two concise answers. 😉

What in the world is “Social Proof”?

I’d be willing to bet that you know more about pumpkin spice lattes from posts you’ve seen on social media over the last two decades than from Starbucks’ own advertising. That’s social proof in action!

People are always more likely to go for something that they see other familiar faces using and enjoying. Of course, offering a great product or service is the necessary first step. But when your clients speak publicly about the value you provided, that’s when things start to snowball.

What are some examples of “Social Proof” that I can use to benefit my business?

  • Google My Business reviews – Make sure you’re collecting these from customers! Then show them off on your website or turn them into graphics to share on social media!
  • Testimonials – These go beyond the standard review. They might be a longer text-based testimonial, or even better, get the customer to record a video to share with you or you record a video and share on your website or on socials.
  • Posts of people using your product – Encourage fans of your products and services to post about them and tag your business or use a special hashtag on social media. You can run contests to encourage this behavior.
  • Partnerships with other businesses and organizations – Whether you’re just posting about each other on social media or you have a partnership that can benefit clients of both businesses, this is an avenue worth considering to boost social proof and visibility.
  • Online engagement – We all know about this. Online engagement means exercise those social media muscles. In this case, do as I say, not as I do. We stay way too busy serving clients to worry much about our own social media, but if you’re looking to build your brand and attract more business, staying visible on social media and posting content that either asks questions or encourages real engagement is an ideal strategy.
  • Endorsements from industry experts or influencers – If you can get someone else who is respected and/or who has a larger following online than your business to actually say something about your business and endorse it, this is a great type of social proof. If you get these kinds of endorsements, these are ideal to screenshot and put on your website and share on your socials.

Easy enough, right? Now get out there and round up some social proof to boost the reputation of your business online! 🙌 Let us know if we can help! Just send us an email at [email protected]!
